And then, new things were added.
It’s been a while since I took stock of what stock I had, and actually listed some fabulous bits of vintage furniture, lights and other items I’ve spent years hunting down. The sudden appearance of a Futuro house in my life has caused me to get on with the job of putting up for sale some wonderful items for your homes.
An early 1950’s lamp designed and manufactured by Bernard Schottlander.
A Peter Schmitt artwork from 1970, The Thoughts Behind The Thoughts.
A 1970’s West German table lamp by Staff.
An amazing mercury glass mirrored wall or ceiling light, possibly from the 1920’s or 30’s.
And much much more. Take a look at our stock page to see what’s new and get in touch if you’re keen on buying something.
Putting a Cado shelving system to the test
I seem to put up and take down different modular storage systems on a far too regular basis. Tomado, String, Ladderax, or just plain old Spur shelving. Be it moving house, or moving studio, trying to make order of “stuff” feels like a full time occupation sometimes. Pictured is the current work in progress, a lovely 1970’s Cado Danish rosewood shelving system designed by Poul Cadovius, and evolved from his earlier Royal system. Legend has it when this system was sold in the UK at Harrods and Heals the salesmen were encouraged to demonstrate it’s strength by hanging off a shelf. The weight of books here already would account for a few salesmen. I’m not so worried about the system itself, more the rawlplugs that are holding it into a partition wall. After much trial and error using all sorts of fancy “heavy duty” wall plugs I’ve found Rawlplug Uno’s to be by far the best, although this is asking a lot of 16 little wedges of plastic. Here’s hoping things don’t go bump in the night.
The Futuro
1980’s Heals Chromatic curtains, designed by Diane Bell.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t spend far too much time flitting about on eBay looking at random stuff. I don’t feel quite audacious enough at present to part with a mere £88 including delivery for these amazing curtains, but someone should fast. Get them here.
Glass swan / brass hedgehog
After much by way of distraction in the gallery of late, a rash of email inquiries about our lovely Charlotte Perriand Les Arcs chairs alerted us to the fact that our little website we’d been working away on when we had a spare moment was now showing up in Google searches for lovely things. Subsequently sold to a very nice gentleman in France where they will be gracing one of the apartments at La Ferme de Serge, we’ve been trying to get some more things up on the website.
Animal magic comes in the form of these lovely little stacking tray in the form of a family of hedgehogs by Walter Bosse.

Do you know? When you make waste you not only waste good material you also waste the hard work put into it before it got to you.
